Grumpus Maximus…

I have decided that this is my Latin name. I’m a grump tonight. The kids had a great day at school. B is a little wound tonight, which I should have expected. New things always get him somewhat wound up. I understand, I’m the same way. We express it differently though. I get headaches and the shakes, almost panicky. Anxiety attacks. He gets wired and wound up and almost hyper. Excited even. Right now he’s playing fetch with the dog. Which is good. It lets the dog work off excess energy, and it’s good for B to play with him. Right now though I’m on edge and it’s just driving me bonkers. :o ) I’ll survive, and when I really think about it, I’m glad that he’s getting it out here. I’d much rather he be wound at home than at school. Really, I’m grateful. My children are all three healthy and happy. I am blessed to have them with me, and so I’m going to post this, then go play fetch with the boy and his dog!

Well, they left…

We kissed them all goodbye and sent them out to the bus this morning. I cried. My first baby is in Middle School! I didn’t even cry when he went to Kindergarten, but seeing him get on that bus this morning just broke me up.

I’ll have pictures up later tonight!

Randomness

I’ve been sick. Bronchitis is NOT fun! I’m sorry, the official diagnosis is, “Upper-Respiratory Infection, Suspect Bronchitis.” The doctor said he was pretty sure it was bronchitis, but he didn’t think it was necessary to do a culture to find out. He gave me a Z-Pack, some allergy medicine & sent me home. That was last Monday. I’m still coughing up my toes. It’s unamusing imo. I do have to admit, I am doing better though.

In other news, tomorrow is the first day of school. I’m glad. I think the kids are too, although B says that he’s not, summer was to quick. I think he’s a bit nervous about his teacher this year. We prayed tonight that God will help his teachers to understand him, and help him to have good self control & make good choices.

D is starting Middle School (or Jr. High as we called it back in *the day*.) He’s excited, although a bit nervous. His school does a really neat thing imo. They assign him a set of books that stay home all year. So he doesn’t have to worry about carrying them home, remembering them for homework, etc. He’s been a bit concerned about that though. He just wasn’t sure that he should leave them home tomorrow. Maybe he should take them the first day, “just in case.” :o ) When we were at the school last week to pick up his books, he noticed the sign for Student Council, and seemed interested in that. He even remembers the date, time and location of the sign up meeting. :o )

A is excited, but she is sad because her best friend moved and is going to a different school. She got to go over there today though to play, and had a great time! I told her that she’ll make LOTS of new friends this year, and she’s ready.

It’s going to be really quiet around here tomorrow. It’s usually quiet because they have to be quiet while I’m working, but tomorrow will be different, you know what I mean? They have to be out at the bus stop around 7:00 tomorrow. B & A will be home around 3:30-ish, D won’t be home until 4:30-ish. Sending him off to Middle School is turning out to be harder than I thought. I don’t want to let go, but I know I have to. He’s going to do great, I on the other hand might just need a hug!!!

Perfect Princess

This is one of the cards we are doing at my Hostess Club This Saturday, the 18th. It uses my absolute favorite new set, Perfect Princess ( 109391). I used Basic Gray and Purely Pomegranate card stock and classic ink, and Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon as an accent. I cut the tiara out, then used Crystal Effects to put Dazzling Diamonds and give the tiara some *bling*! There is also a Lilac Square Rhinestone Brad in the center. I used the ticket corner punch on the rectangle with Princess stamped in Basic Gray on Basic Gray. I think this is one of my FAVORITE cards I’ve ever made!!!

Why?

Someone asked me why free to dance? So I thought I would explain. There are so many WONDERFUL Christian songs out there. One in particular really speaks to me though. It is called Free, and it is by Ginny Owens. The lyrics are so perfectly descriptive of who I am, and of who I want to be, and who I can be, in Christ…

Turning molehills into mountains,
Making big deals out of small ones,
Bearing gifts as if they’re burdens,
This is how it’s been.

Fear of coming out of my shell,
Too many things I can’t do too well,
Afraid I’ll try real hard and I’ll fail -This is how it’s been.

Till the day you pounded on my heart’s door,
And you shouted joyfully,”You’re not a slave anymore”

“You’re free to dance-Forget about your two left feet
And you’re free to sing-Even joyful noise is music to me
and you’re free to love,
Cause I’ve given you My love,
and it’s made you free
I have set you free

My mind finds hard to believe
That You became humanity
and changed the course of history,
Because You loved me so.

And my heart cannot understand
Why You’d accept me as I am,
But You say You’ve always had a plan,
And that’s all I need to know.

So when I am consumed by what the world will say,
It’s then You’re singing to me,
As you remove my chains

You’re free to dance-Forget about your two left feet
And you’re free to sing-Even joyful noise is music to me
and you’re free to love,
Cause I’ve given you My love,
and it’s made you free
I have set you free

Free from worry, free from envy and denial
Free to live, free to give, free to smile

You’re free to dance-Forget about your two left feet
And you’re free to sing-Even joyful noise is music to me
and you’re free to love,
Cause I’ve given you My love, and it’s made you free
I’ve given you My love, and it’s made you free
I’ve set you free

Hooray, my first post! :o ) This card was done using the Emboss Resist Technique. A wonderful yet simple technique using our Heat Tool, Embossing Powder and sponges. I used the Baroque Motifs set (109403) from the Fall – Winter Collection 2007. Paper and ink are Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke and Whisper White. I used Olive Organdy ribbon from the 2006-2007 Idea Book & Catalog.
